About Us
We are the Back to Roots team and we are glad to have you here.
Our team is composed of hairdressers, make-up artists, decorators, and photographers. We have been working in each of our sectors for more than 5 years in Germany. Since our sectors are complimentary, we have decided to build this project together.
Goal
Our goal is to capture your special moments by adding a particular touch of color and Afrocentric style ( clothe, decoration, accessories...).

Are you currently in the last trimester of your pregnancy and want to save memories of this special time in your life? Back to Roots is there for you. During a maternity shooting, we make sure to capture fabulous moments that you can rediscover as much as you desire. To make you feel comfortable, beautiful, and confident, we give you access to our make-up artist, hairdresser, and accessories (all according to your shooting theme). We also make sure that everything is well coordinated to achieve an outstanding result.
You are planning an event or a photo shoot with an African thematic and need some accessories, our rental service is specially customized for you. We are happy to make them available to you, so don´t hesitate to contact us.
This package is suitable for those who want to capture natural moments of togetherness just with their partner before the big day. We value the importance of a pre-wedding photoshoot because it is the only chance for an engaged couple to document their love story, to have photos for wedding invitation, or a slide show for their wedding reception. Our team is there to do suggestions regarding, dresses, shoes, makeup, and hairstyle. Aiming to help the couple feel comfortable and get more at ease as the shoot progresses.
Do you have a special occasion (Birthday, wedding, video shooting...etc) and would like a different and beautiful afro hairstyle ( with or without hair extensions)? You are at the right place.
As an aspiring model, you need an amazing modeling portfolio to kick start your career. Back to Roots gives you the chance to make a great first impression on agencies and clients. Our team is there, to help you to implement all aspects of your portfolio. During this shooting
the session we enhance your portfolio by adding a touch of Afrocentric style to make it looks unique and also by combining African and western style (if needed).
This is a visual story of your family: your look, your smile, and the special bond you share.
It's a perfect occasion for you to share your culture to valorise the Afrocentric legacy.
Price for a photo shooting session
- A (remote) one-to-one contact session
- Choice of one thematic with the option of 3 outfits
- An individual photo shooting tailored to all your wishes
- Access to make-up, hairdresser, and accessories according to your thematic
- A post-shooting session for a personal selection of pictures you want us to edit.
- Compilation of a music slideshow
- An album with a specific number of pictures chosen by you
- Additional outfit / thematic
- Change of location

- Option to have a larger number of edited pictures
- Option to have the whole shooting session album (picture + videos)
The total price is the result of the basic package and the optional selected product(s).

For all shooting reservations beyond a radius of 80 km from the city of Cologne, additional costs will be taken into account depending on the distance.

Where are you located?
We are based in Cologne /Germany, but we are open to work in other German cities and also Countries close to Germany ( France, Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg...).
Which language do you speak?
We speak English, German, French, and Spanish.
We have never been photographed! Do you have any outfit tips for us?
If you have booked a session with us, you have access to a complimentary detailed clothing and hairstyles guide and photo session tips. Our team is also there to make you feel comfortable during the photo shooting session.
What happens if I want to cancel or reschedule my session?
Notice that 25% of your package price is required up front to reserve your date and This is NON-REFUNDABLE. We understand that life happens. If you need to reschedule for any reason, please try to give us 48 hrs notice. If your reschedule is approved, your booking fee will carry over onto your new date. If you don't call or show up, you are forfeiting your booking fee. Please be mindful that when we block off a time slot for you, we are holding that spot for only you. Therefore, we are not able to schedule someone else.
